Business Analytics

The University of Notre Dame offers an undergraduate degree in Business Analytics that provides students with an understanding of data analytics, data governance and how to optimize operational systems. The program educates students in the area of data analyzation so that they may assist businesses and organizations make sound decisions. MS in Business Analytics

The Master of Science in Business Analytics offered at the University of Notre Dame prepares students for positions where advanced analytical techniques are necessary to make sound decisions. Students are provided information on data mining and visualization as well as statistics, modeling, optimization, and simulation. Students gain an understanding of how data can impact finance, marketing, and operations. Students learn how ethics pertains to data management, including privacy, identity protection, ownership of information and how a corporation’s identity can be tied to its data management methods. In order to apply for the program, students must be actively employed with a minimum of two years professional work experience. Students must be able to demonstrate employer support and must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Tuition for the program is $61,405. Students must complete an intensive program that lasts for one week at the South Bend campus.

About the University of Notre Dame

Reverend Edward Sorin, CSC, along with seven other members of the Congregation of Holy Cross, accepted of 524-acres given by the Bishop of Vincennes in 1842. The site became the location of the “L’Universite’ de Notre Dame du Lac,” or The University of Our Lady of the Lake as it is translated from French, Father Sorin’s native language. In 1879, a fire destroyed the Main Building, but Father Sorin would not be deterred. He employed more than 300 workers to rebuild the structure, requiring them to work throughout the summer. The building stands today, topped by the iconic Golden Dome.

Initially, Notre Dame’s curriculum included religious novitiates, grade and prep schools as well as a manual labor school. Despite being called a university, the college curriculum only served about a dozen students each year. In the 1920s, the preparatory school was eliminated, and other areas of the university were upgraded. During the 1930s, as European scholars fled the Nazis, the university saw an increase in highly trained faculty members. After World War II, as soldiers returned home to take advantage of the G.I. Bill, Notre Dame raised entrance requirements, yet enrollment grew steadily. In 1967, control of the school was transferred from Holy Cross priests to a two-tiered board of religious trustees and laymen.

Today, Notre Dame has an enrollment of over 8,600 students. The school has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 25 institutions of higher learning in the country. It was the first Catholic university to establish programs in law, engineering, and architecture. The Chronicle of Higher Education says Notre Dame is one of the top ten collegiate workplaces.

University of Notre Dame Accreditation Details

The University of Notre Dame is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. Accreditation indicates to parents, the community, students and employers that the university offers programs that provide students with the highest quality education. The accrediting agency conducts periodic reviews in order to confirm that students are receiving a quality education and Notre Dame agrees to address any areas that the agency suggests may need improvement.

The Mendoza College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This indicates that all business programs, including undergraduate and graduate programs in Business Analytics, meet or exceed standards that indicate excellence in education according to the accrediting agency.

University of Notre Dame Application Requirements

Students who have not earned college credit beyond high school are considered freshmen at Notre Dame. They can apply by completing the Common Application or the Coalition Application. The application requires a writing supplement and all applications must be received no later than November 1 for early decision students or by January 1 for regular decision. Students must also provide official ACT or SAT scores and official high school transcripts. A letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. Students may submit a counselor recommendation, but it is not required.

Graduate students must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is also required. Students must submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Each graduate program may require additional admission information. Students are encouraged to speak to an admissions representative before applying.

The average cost of full-time attendance for undergraduate students at the University of Notre Dame is $53,391. Graduate programs vary in cost which is why students should reach out to a graduate counselor for more information.

Financial aid is available and approximately 75 percent of undergraduate students receive financial aid. Around 50 percent of first-year students receive a financial aid award and Notre Dame is proud to meet the needs of 100 percent of students who demonstrate financial difficulty in affording college. The average amount of financial need provided to first-year classes is $36.3 million while $1.6 million is awarded in merit-based aid for first-year classes. Notre Dame provides $139 million in need-based scholarships and the average financial aid award is $39,100 for first-year students.
