Golden Gate University is a private, nonprofit postsecondary institution that is based out of San Francisco, California. It was formed in 1901, and it is the fourth oldest private institution in California. It began as the first evening law school in California. The first class was four students. In 1908, the university started the first four-year accounting program on the west coast. In 1910, the YMCA Law School was incorporated. The school became Golden Gate College in 1923. It continued to grow and establish new schools and programs. In 1933, it operated as San Francisco’s first junior college. It began offering evening MBA programs in 1950. It officially became Golden Gate University in 1972. Today, Golden Gate University has about 3,000 students. The main campus setting is in urban San Francisco, and there are regional campuses in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, California and Seattle, Washington. Federal Work Study

The Federal Work Study program provides students federally subsidized employment opportunities. Students are able to work either on or off campus to make money to help pay the costs of higher education.
