The program is meant to address the critical need to prepare students for a world that is growing increasingly dependent on data. The program begins with foundational courses that combine statistical concepts with core computations. Students work with real data in a wide range of industries. The program is designed for undergraduates of any intended major and there is no requirement for experience in data collection. Although all students who enter the program must complete Foundations of Data Science as well as Principles and Techniques of Data Science, they may choose from some of the following courses to complete the program:

Certificate Program in Business Analysis

The University of California Berkeley offers an online Certificate in Business Analysis that prepares students for careers that require expertise in data management. Students learn the complex role business analysts serve related to strategy, operational processes, requirements management and subject matter. Although there are no prerequisites for the online program, it is recommended that students have at least an undergraduate degree, four years of professional experienced and that they be familiar with business operations. If students wish to sit for the CBAP exam, they must also meet the requirements of the IIBA. Courses required include:

The University of California Berkeley is accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. The school has held the accreditation since 1949 and it was reaffirmed in 2015. University of California Berkeley Application Requirements

Students who have not earned college credit after high school graduation are considered freshmen at the University of California Berkeley. Students must have a 3.0 GPA in required courses during their sophomore and junior year of high school. Students must provide official high school transcripts as well as official SAT or ACT scores. Students may submit two letters of recommendation, although they are not required for admission.

Students who have earned college credit after high school graduation are considered transfer students. They must complete applications on both the campus application portal and the University of California website. Students must provide transcripts from all colleges and universities attended as well as official SAT and ACT scores.

Graduate students must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must also have a 3.0 GPA in undergraduate studies. At least three letters of recommendation are required.

University of California Berkeley Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate tuition at the University of Berkeley for in-state students is $8,685.75 per semester. Tuition for out-of-state students is $22,692.75 per semester. Graduate tuition varies depending on the program chosen.

Financial aid is available, and more than 65 percent of UC Berkeley’s undergraduate students receive some type of financial assistance. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for aid. Students must also complete the Cal Grant Application through the California Student Aid Commission in order to qualify for Cal Grants. Financial aid is available in the form of grants, scholarships, loans and work-study programs.
