At Wegmans Hall, the School of Arts & Sciences has launched the Goergen Institute in 2013 for a B.A./B.S. in Data Science that trains University of Rochester Yellowjackets to extract precise conclusions from vast amounts of complex information. Chaired by Dr. Sandhya Dwarkadas, the 128-credit, four-year curriculum splits into eight concentrations: Biology, Biomedical Imaging, Cognitive Sciences, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Physics, Economics, and Business, or Political Science. About the University of Rochester
The University of Rochester originated in 1817 when the First Baptist Church opened the Hamilton Literary & Theological Institution to train Christian ministers. It was officially chartered as Madison University in 1846 for the Baptist Education Society. On January 31, 1850, the seminary split into Colgate University and the University of Rochester. On November 20, 2014, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) voted favorably to renew Level VI accreditation at the University of Rochester through 2023-24 under the 11th president, Dr. Sarah C. Mangelsdorf, who earned a Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award. Located 353 miles down Interstate 476 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this superb six-state Mid-Atlantic Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to review UR’s more than 75 bachelor’s and 50 graduate degrees. University of Rochester Application Requirements
