The undergraduate program in Business Data Analytics at CU Irvine is one of the first in the nation to explore the science of big data. This is the transformation of data from unconnected sources into information that is predictive and powerful, allowing businesses to make better decisions in order to gain better results. About Concordia University Irvine
In the mid-1950s, a group of Southern California Lutherans gathered to create a Lutheran college for the Pacific Southwest. In 1962, the group achieved that goal when The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod agreed to build the school. Irvine was chosen as the site of the new institute of higher learning and classes were held on the campus in 1976 at what was then known as Christ College Irvine. Initial enrollment was 36 students who attended in a single campus building.
In 1993, the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod to incorporate the ten colleges they controlled into the Concordia University. Today, the school prepares individuals for their various callings in life. There are over 4,300 students enrolled and all programs include the school’s Lutheran heritage. The school focuses on living out the theology of “Grace Alone. Faith Alone.” Grace alone explains that God loves, forgives and saves because of the work of Christ, not because of what people do. It is based on the belief that even someone’s best efforts are never good enough to earn salvation but God declares them righteous in Christ’s name because of faith alone. It is the Lutheran belief that people are not saved by following a list of rules but through faith in Christ.
U.S. News & World Report has named Concordia Irvine one of the best regional universities in the country. Those enrolled at Concordia are often involved in the local community and participate in Chapel as well as Bible studies, mission, witness and conversations with faculty that express faith. Concordia University Irvine is regionally accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission. Accreditation indicates that the University provides students with an innovative and rigorous curriculum as well as an exemplary commitment to student success. Concordia University Irvine Application Requirements
Applicants who have not earned college credit after high school graduation may apply as freshmen to Concordia University Irvine. They must have a GPA of 3.42, SAT scores of at least 1014 and ACT composite scores of 22 or higher. Applicants must provide official high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. Transfer students who have earned college credit after high school graduation must complete an application and provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Applicants may also need to provide official high school transcripts along with official SAT or ACT scores depending on the number of transfer credits accepted.
Each graduate program has its own requirements for admission. Applicants are asked to contact a graduate admissions counselor before applying.
Concordia University Irvine Tuition and Financial Aid
Full-time undergraduate tuition is $17,350 per semester while graduate tuition varies depending on the program chosen.
Financial aid is available and approximately 97 percent of students who attend Concordia University Irvine receive some type of aid. More than $40 million in financial aid is awarded annually at the University. Financial aid may be in the form of scholarships which are a form of merit-based assistance. They do not need to be repaid and amounts are based on achievement in a specific area or on financial need.
Students may also qualify for grants which do not need to be repaid. Grants are need-based aid that is distributed to those who demonstrate financial need. Concordia University participates in federal and private student loan programs as well. All loans must be repaid upon graduation and the interest on the loan is based on different terms. It is important to review all student loan offers carefully and speak to a financial aid counselor in order to understand the importance of repayment of student loans.
In order to qualify for any financial aid at Concordia University Irvine, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. California residents must also complete the Cal Grant GPA requirement by March 2nd. It is possible that there are private grants and scholarships available as well.
