According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for database administrators is expected to rise by 11% between 2016 and 2026, faster than average. Earning an online master’s in database administration gives you the skills and knowledge to store and organize large data sets. Database Administrators work in settings that have large databases such as hospitals, government organizations, insurance companies, and universities.

We created a ranking of the top 20 online master’s degrees in database administration. These may be stand alone programs or concentration areas within IT or computer science departments. We used College Navigator and our own online research to find schools offering these types of programs. We then researched the schools to gain more knowledge about the programs they offer. To be considered for our ranking, schools must be regionally accredited and offer a curriculum with coursework in database administration or management. Schools that made our top 20 have faculty who are industry experts. Each online program provides students with mentoring and networking opportunities. For the purpose of this ranking, we defined an online program as one having a significant number of courses available online. We then applied our ranking criteria to come up with the top 20 online master’s in database administration programs.
