The Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics provides students with an understanding of how big data has become critical in business today, helping leaders identify opportunities while also giving them the tools to solve problems. About Texas A&M University-Commerce

Texas A&M University-Commerce began as the East Texas Normal College in Cooper, Texas. Initially, the school’s mission was to educate teachers. The school was established by William L. Mayo, who along with many other individuals and organizations in the country, wanted to establish an institute of higher education that would train teachers. In an effort to guarantee his school would remain open, Mayo sought to make the teaching college a state institution. Without state funding, Mayo relied on tuition, donations and his own funds to keep the school operational.

In 1917, the Texas legislature passed a bill that made East Texas Normal College a state institution, changing the name of the school to East Texas State Normal College. Unfortunately, Mayo never knew that his efforts had come to fruition as he died the same day the state passed the bill. The school was controlled by the State Normal Board of Regents and, when the State Normal College System became the State Teachers College System, the name of the college changed to East Texas State Teachers College.

By the 1950s, it had become clear that East Texas State Teachers College offered far more educational opportunities than just teaching degrees. In 1957, the state legislature authorized another name change to East Texas State College and the school gained university status in 1965. In 1969, East Texas State University became an independent university, operating under its own Board of Regents. However, enrollment began to decline which put the school in a difficult position due to the method used to fund universities in Texas.

In 1986, a memorandum circulated among state legislatures with recommendations to close four institutes of higher learning, one of which was East Texas State. Supporters flooded the Senate chamber to argue against the closure and the legislature agreed to let it remain open. However, financial issues and low enrollment continued to plague the school. The decision was made for the school to merge with a university system in an effort to stabilize finding and help grow enrollment. Because the mission of the A&M System closely fit that of the University, the decision was made to merge with the Texas A&M System and the merger was approved in 1995. Although many wanted to keep the East Texas name, the decision was made to change the name of the school to Texas A&M University-Commerce to align with other campuses of the Texas A&M System.

Today, Texas A&M University Commerce offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The school has been recognized for cutting-edge research and there is a diverse student body of over 10,000.

Texas A&M University Commerce Accreditation Details

Texas A&M University-Commerce is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and has held the accreditation since 1925. Accreditation indicates that Texas A&M University Commerce offers programs that meet the high standards set by the Commission and that they have the resources available to meet their goals. If there are any areas identified as needing improvement during periodic reviews, the University agrees to address those issues as quickly as possible. Texas A&M University-Commerce Application Requirements

In order to apply for the Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Analytics, applicants must rank in the top 30 percent of their graduation class, have a composite ACT score of 21 or higher or a minimum combined score of 1060 on the SAT. They must complete an application and submit official high school transcripts. Official SAT or ACT scores must also be provided. Students who have earned college credit after high school graduation must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

In order to apply for the Master’s in Business Analytics, applicants must have successfully completed Introduction to Business Analytics, Marketing Environment, Operations and Organizations, plus Quantitative Analysis for Managers or the equivalent. An application is required as well as official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Official GRE scores are also required.

Texas A&M University Commerce Tuition and Financial Aid

Texas A&M University offers a tiered tuition program. Undergraduate students who choose the one-year optional rate plan pay $997.81 per credit hour. The two-year plan locks tuition rates in for two years. Texas residents under this plan pay $597.38 per credit hour and non-residents pay $1012.38 per credit hour. The four-year guaranteed tuition rate plan locks the tuition rate for four years. Texas residents pay $611.95 per credit hour and non-residents pay $1,026.95 per credit hour.

Graduate students who are Texas residents pay $619.57 per credit hour while non-residents pay $1,034.57 per credit hour. The two-year guaranteed rate for Texas graduate students is $635.06 and for non-residents $1,050.06. The four-year plan for Texas graduate students is $650.54 per credit hour and for non-residents is $1,065.54.

More than 70 percent of undergraduate students receive some type of financial aid. In order to qualify, all students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid may be offered in the form of grants, scholarships work-study or student loans. Students should complete the FAFSA regardless of income as some aid is merit rather than need-based. The FAFSA must be renewed on an annual basis.
