Brigham Young University offers a Bachelor of Science in Information System that provides students with knowledge of how information systems connect to business. Students also learn to create and manage organizational technical functions including acquiring, deploying, maintaining and managing information technology systems, infrastructure, security, resources, and services. They learn to make informed business and technical decisions. The program is limited to 120 individuals and requires 64 credit hours. About Brigham Young University

Warren Dusenberry began Brigham Young University when he rented a building in Cluff Hall, paying just $50 in rent each month. Dusenberry not only rented the building, he built all the furnishings used himself. Dusenberry left the school to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He returned to Cluff Hall and opened a second school with his brother. In 1875, Brigham Young, leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, used his own funds to purchase Dusenberry’s the second school which had become part of the University of Deseret. Young ended the partnership with the university and renamed the school Brigham Young Academy after himself. It became Brigham Young University in 1903.

At the time that it gained university status, the school separated the high school portion of the school from the university portion. Property was purchased to build a temple, giving the area the name Temple Hill. The school was considered a seminary rather than an actual college or university. High school courses were eliminated in 1921 and the curriculum was adjusted to better fit a university. After World War II, enrollment grew tremendously with soldiers returning and taking advantage of the G.I. Bill.

Today, more than 33,500 students attend Brigham Young University. The Wall Street Journal has named the school as one of the top colleges in the west for student engagement. Programs at the school are ranked second in the country by Financial Times and TaxTalent. US News & World Report lists Brigham Young University as third among undergraduate accounting programs as well as for graduates with the least amount of debt. US News & World Report ranks the school highly in lists of best value schools as well.

Brigham Young University Accreditation Details

Brigham Young University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Regional accreditation indicates that the school meets or exceeds criteria set forth by the Commission that indicates excellence in education. Accreditation also indicates that the school has the available recourses to achieve the purposes it states and that it will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Brigham Young University Application Requirements

Students who have not graduate from high school or have earned no more than 36 quarter or 24 semester hours after graduating from high school are considered freshmen. They must provide an application, official high school transcripts. An ecclesiastical endorsement, as well as an endorsement and evaluation from a seminary or other religious organization, must be included.

Students who have more than 36 quarter or 24 semester credit hours may be admitted to Brigham Young as transfer students. They must complete an application and provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. They must also provide the same religious endorsements as freshmen applicants.

Graduate applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in order to apply for graduate studies. Students who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints must also complete an interview with a bishop and stake president. Applicants who are not members must submit to a phone interview with a chaplain and provide an ecclesiastical recommendation from a pastor. Students must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

Brigham Young University Provo Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate tuition at Brigham Young University is $286 per credit hour for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and $572 for non-members. Graduate tuition is $405 per credit hour for members and $810 for non-members.

Financial aid is available from a wide range of federal, state and university programs. Students may be eligible for grants, scholarships, and loans. All financial aid is coordinated through the Financial Aid Office. IN order to qualify for any assistance, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be renewed each year.
