Data Science Degrees Offered at Liberty University
Liberty University appears in our ranking of the Top 20 Online Master’s in Database Administration.
Liberty University offers a variety of degree programs focusing on data science and analytics. Traditionally, students enrolled to attend classes on campus can find these specific concentrations within the undergraduate programs and their minors.
One such program is the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems. This area of study is dedicated to teaching students how to help businesses to thrive and overcome technological challenges. With this degree, students will learn how the fundamentals of computer programming relate to business, organizational behavior, software, and hardware applications and how to maintain secure network systems. The degree program offers specializations in accounting information systems, data networking, global studies, and information assurance.
Another area of data study is found in Liberty University’s Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Informatics. This program offers students the opportunity to learn from IT experts about information technology in the healthcare field, its applications in database management systems, system development ad web architecture. Students also learn about planning, developing, implementing, maintaining, and updating a healthcare enterprise system.
Undergraduate minors in data science can be added to degree programs, specifically in information security and information systems. These minors require courses like Business Data Communication Systems, Studies in Information Security, Information Security Planning, Intro to Information Sciences and Systems, Database Management Systems and System Analysis & Design.
Online degree programs in data science are also offered if attending classes on campus isn’t the best option. Undergraduate certificate programs have classes that can be completed online within eight weeks. An Undergraduate Certificate in Database program teaches students, using an Oracle platform, about manipulating data and programming languages since most organizations rely heavily on databases to compete successfully in the marketplace. The Undergraduate Certificate in Data Networking immerses students in the study of implementing data security measures to protect customer information. It includes courses like Business Data Communication Systems and Advanced Networking & Communication Systems.
Students can also pursue an Undergraduate Certificate in Information Assurance, where they can learn about different types of network systems and digital information from professionals within the information technology and assurance industry. A Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management includes the option to take the Healthcare Informatics course as an elective, but not as a primary area of study.
If students are looking for a more extensive course of study, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology can provide that with specializations in game design, web and mobile programming, application and database development, data networking and data security. The Bachelors of Business Administration-Data Analytics offers a curriculum focused on analysis, database concepts and practical analytics. Degrees in this field can support careers as a business intelligence manager, database and operations analyst and as an analytics consultant.
Pursuing degree programs beyond a bachelor’s only contain courses in data science, but there aren’t any advanced degree programs within this particular concentration.
