30 Best Online Master’s in Data Science Degree Programs

After acquiring the Clawson-Hamilton School and Griffin School, Bay Path was relocated in 1945 by industrialist Thomas Carr. Bay Path now occupies a 48-acre, Georgian-style campus in the Longmeadow Historic District of Massachusetts with the One Day A Week College in Sturbridge. Endowed for $40.8 million, Bay Path University presents 30 women-focused bachelor’s and 25 coeducational master’s degrees as a private, nonsectarian liberal arts institution. Currently inspiring 3,225 Wildcats to “Seize the Day” within the Cooperating Colleges of Greater Springfield (CCGS), Bay Path has produced over 16,000 alumni, including Joyce Angela Jellison and Paige Turco.

According to the U.S. News & World Report, Bay Path is the North’s 102nd best regional college with a mean freshman retention rate of 75 percent. Niche applauded Bay Path University for the safest campus, 18th best online education, and 99th top standout academics nationwide. Forbes named Bay Path the 264th most financially fit institution in America. In 2014, the Chronicle of Higher Education recognized Bay Path University for the eighth highest decade-long enrollment increase of 114 percent. Money magazine placed Bay Path 584th among the United States’ best values. Bay Path University Accreditation Details

Under president Carol A. Leary, Bay Path University had its regional accreditation continued in September 2016 from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE). This 10-year approval is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for Federal Title-IV eligibility. Bay Path is also an accredited member of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).

Bay Path University Application Requirements

The Fall 2016 acceptance rate of 60 percent provides data proof that admission into Bay Path University’s data science programs is deemed “selective.” The American Women’s College only considers B.S. in Business Analytics applicants who’ve finished 12+ accredited credits after a high school diploma or GED. Interviews are scheduled in person or by phone to evaluate students’ communication skills and commitment. Transferred credits must be graded “C” or higher for a minimum 2.0 GPA overall. Although wholly voluntary, Bay Path undergrads achieve a mean SAT score of 1050 and ACT score of 21.

Pursuing the Applied Data Science M.S. requires proving academic ability with an accredited four-year bachelor’s degree in technical disciplines. Curriculum prerequisites include calculus, statistics, and computer programming. Master’s candidates need a cumulative GPA above 3.0, but GRE/GMAT scores are waived. International students are welcomed into the online classroom with a minimum TOEFL score of 80 (Internet-based) or 550 (paper-based). Preference is given to seasoned analysts who’ve accumulated two or more years of full-time data experience.

Undergraduate programs at Bay Path University have an Early Action deadline of December 15th, but admission keeps rolling until August 1st for Fall. The Graduate College also holistically reviews candidates year-round. Applying online with the One Day a Week Saturday or Graduate applications waives the $25 fee. Tuition and Financial Aid

Full-time Bay Path undergrads are billed $34,225 for annual tuition with an optional health insurance premium of $2,311. Living on the Longmeadow campus adds $12,799 for room and board per year. Total annual cost of attendance is approximately $36,639 for commuters and $47,024 for residential women. One Day A Week Saturday offerings charge flat-rate tuition of $400, or $350 for qualifying military, per credit. Graduate College students will pay $815 per credit with roughly $1,500 for textbooks each year. Finishing the 36-credit Applied Data Science M.S. at Bay Path University currently costs $33,340 total.

The College Navigator tool reports that 83 percent of full-time Bay Path Wildcats share $16.39 million in annual financial assistance for $10,586 apiece on average. Undergrads earning the Business Analytics B.S. might obtain Federal Pell Grants or Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants. Cumulative borrowing caps of $31,000 exist for Stafford, Perkins, and PLUS loans. The Graduate College started an employer reimbursement application. The Bay Path Opportunity Grant gifts up to $4,000 for master’s majors. Other institutional funds include the 1897 Founders Scholarship, Seize the Day Award, Dean’s Scholarship, Academic Excellence Scholarship, Success Award, Women In STEM Honors Scholarship, and Puerto Rico Transfer Scholarship. Studying Big Data at Bay Path

The American Women’s College launched the Business Analytics Major within the Bachelor of Science in Business program for adult Bay Path ladies to practice tracking, visualizing, and assessing organizational data. Directed by Jamie Litchfield, MBA, the 82-credit major suits adult women transferring credits into their study of business processes that support data-driven decisions. With an 11:1 student-faculty ratio for engagement, the B.S. program has Saturday sessions in Longmeadow or Sturbridge and online modules anytime on the SOUL platform. Course topics dive into data mining, management dynamics, statistics, systems analysis, and managerial accounting before the “Leadership in Practice” capstone. Graduates have excelled at UBS Financial Services, First Niagara Bank, MassMutual, Newell-Rubbermaid, and others.

Accelerated, eight-week online modules also let working professionals pursue Bay Path’s Master of Science in Applied Data Science starting each October and February. Chaired by Dr. Ning Jia, the 36-credit, non-thesis program goes “Beyond the Dashboard” to teach post-grads the latest statistical methods for digging into data. After the free calculus prep, students broaden their Python and SQL skills in 12 courses like linear algebra, data protection, decision support systems, probability, and risk management. Emphasizing high-performance leadership, the M.S. takes two years part-time with an optional SAS Joint Certificate for statistical analysis software credentialing.
