Bay Path University offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics and a Master of Science in Applied Data Science.
The Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics teaches students how to mine data, create decision support models, and establish strategies that lead to success in businesses and organizations. Students learn how to track, visualize, and assess large amounts of data to make informed decisions. The program combines business principles with information technology. A total of 120 credits are needed for completion of the degree. The required courses include Intro to Financial Accounting, Intro to Managerial Accounting, Legal Environments of Business, Principles of Marketing, Dynamics of Management, Organization Develop and Change, Communicating in Business, Introduction to Business Analytics, Systems Analysis and Design, Data Mining and ‘Big’ Data, and Strategic Business Analytics. The Master of Science in Applied Data Science offers two tracks for students: Generalist Track and Specialist Track. The Generalist Track prepares students to function as well-rounded and skilled data analysts and data scientists. The Specialist Track prepares students to pursue data-centric roles on a data science team. The curriculum is comprehensive and combines classical statistical methods and innovative machine learning techniques to evaluate small and big data. Students use various tools including SAS, Python, and SQL. Both programs require the completion of 36 credit hours. The applied science core classes include Foundations of Data Science, Statistical Modeling, Data Exploration and Visualization, Database Systems, and Case Analysis Capstone. The Generalist Track courses include Data Analytics I, Data Analytics II, Machine Learning I, and Machine Learning II. The Specialist Track courses include Probability for Data Analytics, Statistical Inference for Data Analytics, Data Mining I, and Data Mining II.
About Bay Path University
Bay Path University is a private, independent, nonprofit postsecondary institution located in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1897 as Bay Path Institute for men and women. The school became Bay Path Secretarial School for Women in 1945. In 1949, the school changed its name to Bay Path Junior College and again in 1979 to Bay Path College. In 2000, the graduate school was founded. It finally became Bath Path University in 2014. Today, Bay Path University is home to nearly 3,500 students on its 48-acre campus in Longmeadow. It still offers undergraduate programs exclusively to women and graduate programs to both men and women. It is also home to campuses in East Longmeadow, MA, Concord, MA, and Sturbridge, MA. It operates on the semester-based academic calendar.
Bay Path University strives to provide innovative, career-based education to meet the economic and cultural demands of today’s lively society. The undergraduate programs are offered through the Residential College and American Women’s College. The graduate programs are offered through the Graduate College. The Residential College is an undergraduate college for women that requires students to reside on campus. The American Women’s College is the nation’s first campus and online all female accredited school. The Graduate College offers over 25 graduate degrees to both men and women. Federal Work Study
The Federal Work-Study, commonly called FWS, is a need-based financial aid program that is funded by the federal government. It allows eligible students to work part-time to make money to help pay for the costs of college. Students are able to work up to 20 hours weekly. The program encourages students to choose jobs that are related to their academic field or community service. The pay is at least the current federal minimum wage and students are paid every other week. Actual pay differs by each situation of students.
