Statisticians are needed to analyze everything from the effectiveness of new drugs to the safety of a new automobile feature.

We created a ranking of the top 20 online master’s degrees in statistics. Since there are simply not many programs out there, we expanded our search to include applied mathematics programs with extensive coursework in statistics. We used College Navigator to find schools offering these types of programs as well as our own online search. We then researched the schools to gain more knowledge about the programs they offer. Schools included in our ranking are regionally accredited and offer a well balanced curriculum focused on statistics and applied mathematics. Faculty are industry experts and each online program provides students with mentoring and networking opportunities. For the purpose of this ranking, we defined an online program as one having a significant number of courses available online. We applied our ranking criteria to come up with the top 20 online master’s in statistics programs.
